Acrylic painting is very popular in America and in Europe. The reason, I think, could be that the younger generation of artists is recognizing the benefits of using acrylic paint. One benefit is that acrylic paint works very well with water. Another good reason is that the paint dries very quickly, making it an ideal medium to work with for many beginners and intermediate-level artists.
Now that I’ve said that, I’d like to welcome you to the world of Acrylic Art!
This blog will cover popular ideas that new social media followers or potential art fair customers love.
Enjoy!

1. Boat

What is there not to like about a boat? It just sits there catching in the waves, bashing in the sun with not a care in the world.
Location: Regional coasts or ports.
2. Love between couples

Does love still exist in this economy? Sometimes I think younger people are too scared to take a walk to a park because neither one wants to argue about who is going to pay for an actual date!
Examples: Conceptual, Affectionate, intimate, and sleeping.
3. Trucks

I enjoy the great American journey across the country in a big rig. Don’t forget to ask them to honk when you see one passing by on the highway.
Examples: Flatbeds, box dump, heavy load, and tow trucks.
4. Plants

Plants provide us with shade, mosquitoes, and life. So take some time to express your appreciation by drawing a few plants on canvas.
Location: Inside a home or outside in a home garden.
5. Sunsets

A perfect date is sitting on a beach watching the sun hide underneath the horizon, but for people my age, it also means starting off our bedtime.
Location: The sunsets due west during the spring and fall season, but please check between 6:10 to 7:30 pm.
6. Family portrait

I enjoy family gatherings, cookouts, and vacations. A family that can get together and stay together as a unit.
Location: Family reunions, Christmas, 4th of July, spring, and summer vacations.
7. Flowers

Springtime is a perfect time to discover the simple joy of dandelions, but also to contend with allergies. Nature is always a source of inspiration for an artist.
Location: Typically found under the shade of a tree and in garden beds.
8. Dancing

I wonder if people dance anymore. Women seem to shake their butts too much and the young fellas love hugging the wall all night. I don’t know, I prefer spending a Friday or Saturday night painting!
Location: Cocktail parties, barbecues, birthday parties, weddings, Christmas and New Year’s parties.
9.Sky

Have you ever gone outside, looked up, and just felt inspired to paint? I haven’t, but I will give it try and see what happens.
Location: Anywhere outside where there is no obstructed view.
10. Mountains

Nothing comes to mind better than the bald eagle and the mountains of the Midwest. The grand view should give you enough to be inspired by!
Location: The most common mountains are from New Mexico to Western Canada.
11. Camping Site

I love the great outdoors. No electricity. No running water. And you’re the prey! Sounds like a great way to spend a weekend instead of being indoors with air conditioning, watching football!
Location: Any place where there aren’t any signs of civilization.
12. Playground

Do you miss the simple days of tag, hopscotch, and hot potato? Now, as an adult, it’s the IRS, bills, and those dreaded doctor’s visits.
Location: Become a parent, and the playgrounds will find you.
13. Construction

I would try this idea when creating an art piece for a property manager looking to upgrade an office building or a bar owner who is looking to renovate their establishment.
Location: The downtown area of any major city is a good place to start.
14. Cars

Is it true that hot women still like hot cars? I don’t own any, but if I paint one, does it still count?
Location: They are found on highways, roads, and parking lots.
15. Fish

I don’t recommend buying goldfish, but they are always easy to draw! Many art enthusiasts enjoy buying this type of art as well.
Location: They are often found in lakes, rivers, and streams.
16. Nightlife

I try to still get out even at my age because it’s never too late to shake your groove with your old lady!
Location: Try local bars, clubs, and taverns between 8 pm to 3 am on Friday or Saturday nights.
17. Musical instruments

Is there anyone out there in the mood for jazz? If so, I would like to paint some of it, too. Cool and mellow is the way I like to play it.
Examples: Guitar, Keyboard, Trumpet, Saxophone, Drums, Harp, Trombone, and bass guitar.
18. Sports

A buzz-beater. A slam dunk. A two-point conversion. GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! There are many ways to show your appreciation for sports as an artist.
Examples: Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer.
19. A pier

Who doesn’t love girls in a bikini riding a boat across the Miami Coast? Unfortunately, you wake up and find yourself married, taking a family cruise. Life is always fair.
Location: I would try an inland waterway, the coast, or regional ports.
20. Men’s fashion

It is never too late to learn a bit of swag. A nice outfit says a lot about a man. Acrylic art can capture it, too.
Examples: Business, athletics, beach attire, and casual attire.
21. Women’s fashion

If I had it my way, I would prefer if women didn’t wear anything at all! Just kidding. But women have so many options and styles when it comes to vintage or modern fashion. Your paintbrush will love you for it!
Examples: Swimsuit, professional, formal, and casual attire.
22. Portraits

I think painting portraits is a good way to move up from being a beginner. At this point, attention to detail is very important. Have fun!
Examples: Conceptual, group, glamour, close-up, full body, and self-portraits.
23. Exercise

I like to move my feet or shuffle them, or wiggle them. I don’t know what I’m doing anymore. I will let the younger generation have that!
Location: You can find people exercising at any health club, basketball club, or gym.
24. A beach

Sunshine and beautiful women. I would visit here every weekend, but I have bills and more bills!
Location: Any coastal resorts.
25. Marriage

A great side hustle provides a great portrait of a young couple tying the knot. Too bad the portrait will last a lifetime, but marriages don’t!
Examples: First dance, forehead kiss, almost kissing, walking, and bear hug.
26. Café

Does America have a café other than Starbucks? I don’t think so unless it’s in LA or Miami.
Location: They are common in Paris, France.
27. Retirement

I wonder if retirement is still attainable in this country. I guess nowadays retirement is called eternal rest.
Example: Sitting by a pond, walking, watching TV, and arguing with a spouse.
28. Vacation:

Nothing like working 52 hours a week for 52 weeks out of the year. This is a perfect formula for anyone needing a vacation…to a mental asylum.
Location: The beach, camping, theme parks, and sightseeing.
29. Birds

These sky pests are always intriguing to paint. The problem is catching one, staying still long enough to paint one!
Location: They are often seen on telephones and any nearby body of water
30. Wealth

Who can possibly be winning in this economy? High inflation and High tariffs. If you can find anyone with any loose pockets, marry them immediately!
Style. Elegance. Grace. There is nothing like citizens with money.
31. Working class (Blue collar)

The working class is what creates a strong American workforce. It is the definition of what the American dream is supposed to be. I try to capture this in my art as much as I can before it no longer exists.
Examples: Truck driver, construction worker, plumber, electrician, factory worker, and welder.
32. Office class (White collar)

Corporate America. Do you feel stuck in a cubicle, stressing yourself out trying to make your deadlines? Well, try to capture that moment with acrylic paint! Nothing can be more exciting than a soulless employee working without a pay raise in 10 years and no hope in sight of moving up the corporate ladder!
Examples: Attorney, software developer, banker, and architect.
33. River

It’s been a while since I have been on a boat ride, but I do live in Memphis. The Mississippi River might be a great art piece to work on
Location: Anywhere a large stream of water. Try Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri.
34. Trees

I know it’s simple, but a tree just stands there and provides us with life. Show a little love and create a few paintings when you are just starting to create art.
Examples: Oak, willow, and maple trees.
35. Hiking Trail

It can be a great exercise to move along a hiking path early in the morning. I love the challenge of pushing myself, but my knees, on the other hand, oh no! I’m going to just sit and paint.
Location: Parks, mountains, hills, forests.
36. Snow

I think of Christmas time every time I see the blanket of snow, but then it occurs to me the presents I must buy. Yes, when I see snow, my wallet begins to starve.
Location: The perfect time is between December to February in many of the Northern states such as Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, New York, and Maine.
37. Zoo Life

It’s been a while since I visited a zoo, but it took me to a time in my youth. I enjoyed observing the animals, and it was amazing how easily my siblings and I were entertained, but now, it’s all about cell phones and laptops.
Concept: Gorillas, lions, elephants, giraffes, snakes, pandas, alligators, bats, or monkeys.
38. Interior Design

What is crazier than buying a painting of a living room hanging in a living room? People who love art! That’s who!
Concept: Living room, Bedroom, family room, executive room, basement, studio room, or entrance hall.
39. Subway

Traveling underground is great. It creates a secluded mood when you look at the environment from an artist’s perspective. Give it a try and see what you come up with. Just make sure you have some spare changes as you paint.
Location: Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, and Baltimore.
40. Urban Living

I missed the 45-minute commute to the grocery store. This is what makes crowded American cities great!
Concept: Nightclubs, commercial buildings, low and high rises, parks, amusement parks, and bus stations.
41. Rural Living

We all have those family members who prefer a simple life. I do enjoy this to some degree. But when nature starts to annoy you, it’s time to go back to the concrete jungle of the hustle and get to work.
Concept: Wildlife, creeks, lakes, cottages, barns, farmhouses, farming landscapes, and churches.
I hope you can use these ideas to create some great artwork.
